Common hinges are generally made of plastic, zinc alloy, 304 stainless steel/316 stainless steel, and iron. Hinges of each material have their own characteristics. When purchasing, you can choose according to the specific scene and the advantages and disadvantages of different materials.
1.1 Plastic hinges
There are two common plastics:
PA nylon: good toughness, wear resistance, heat resistance, and not easy to burn;
ABS resin: impact resistance, high temperature/low temperature resistance, and high comprehensive cost performance.
Disadvantages of plastic: easy to weather and low strength when used in outdoor scenes.
Typical applications: industrial electrical cabinets, industrial plastic boxes, office equipment.
1.2 Zinc alloy hinges
Common materials are Zamak3 and Zamak5.
Advantages: good casting performance, can do more surface treatment; has good room temperature mechanical properties and wear resistance;
Disadvantages: poor corrosion resistance, weak weather resistance, the most common defect is surface blistering.
Typical applications: IP appliance outer box, wall-mounted rack outer box, server cabinet.
1.3 Stainless steel hinges
· 304 stainless steel hinges
Advantages: good corrosion resistance and weather resistance, mechanical properties significantly improved compared to zinc alloy;
Disadvantages: complex production process, single surface treatment process, relatively more expensive.
Typical applications: fresh storage doors, shipping containers and engineering machinery projects.
· 316 stainless steel hinges
Upgrade of the basic performance of 304 stainless steel, the price is more expensive.
Typical applications: special vehicles, fire doors, yachts, ships, etc.
1.4 Iron hinges
Advantages: high strength, low price;
Disadvantages: easy to rust.
Typical applications: hospital doors, warehouse doors.
